| Details: Deadwood Gaming Association seeksExecutive DirectorThe Deadwood Gaming Association, an organization created to promote and improve the business environment for the owners and managers of gaming establishments in Deadwood, is seeking proposals for Executive Director. This position is a newly created responsibility intended to raise the visibility and more effectively achieve the goals of the association. Position located in Deadwood SD. Please submit proposals to DGA Selection Committee, 767 Main Street, Deadwood, SD 57732 by August 1. Selection of an Executive Director will be made on or before September 15, 2010. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge and experience managing tax exempt organizations, with specific experience in public policy advocacy and communications. Candidates must be able to clearly communicate the mission of the Deadwood Gaming Association to a variety of audiences including: state and local elected officials, the media, gaming operators, industry regulators and the general public. The contract which results from this solicitation will be a contract for a period of one year, commencing upon execution of a contract. Either party may have the option at any time to terminate the contract during the one year period by giving at least 30 days notice. The first stage requires each candidate to submit a written proposal in response to the information requested with this letter. Each candidate will agree with and can comply with all of the requirements in this RFP, and that it will participate, if requested in stage two of this process. The Deadwood Gaming Association will evaluate the proposals submitted in stage one to determine which candidate(s) will be invited to proceed to stage two. The candidate(s) chosen to participate in stage two will be required to make an oral presentation in Deadwood to the Deadwood Gaming Association or a sub-committee of said organization. This RFP will provide information necessary to submit a proposal. It is the candidate’s responsibility to examine the entire RFP and to seek clarification of any requirements, specifications, terms or conditions that may not be clear. If at any time it becomes necessary to revise any part of this RFP or if additional information is necessary to clarify any provision of the RFP, the revision and/or additional information will be provided to all candidates who are issued copies of this RFP. Unless the RFP is amended in writing, it will remain unchanged. The RFP is issued by the Deadwood Gaming Association. The current DGA Executive Director is the sole point of contact from the date of release of the RFP until selection of a successful candidate.   The following are dates set forth for informational and planning purposes:August 1 – Written proposal due to the Deadwood Gaming AssociationSeptember 1 – Selection of candidates for stage twoSeptember TBA – Interview & select candidate Please see the candidate expectations and requirements below. Specific expectations include the following:1.     Organize, schedule and assist in the conduct of meetings of Board of Directors.2.     Implement and manage the DGA and Political Action Budgets.3.     Determine appropriate corporate structure and tax exempt status for Association, subject to approval of Board of Directors.4.     Incorporate DGA as South Dakota Corporation.5.     Adopt new Articles of Incorporation and by-laws.6.     Promote new dues structure to cover Association costs.7.     Develop compilation report methodology for industry wide economic analysis.8.     Organize, manage and promote a state Political Action Committee.9.     Act as spokesman for the gaming industry.10. Advocate for issues important to the Association by lobbying state legislators and local elected officials.11. Manage media relations and develop positive and cooperative relationships with state-wide organizations.12. Provide industry updates to newspaper editorial boards.13. Develop an education plan that provides information to citizens of SD regarding the economic impacts of gaming on employment, taxes, tourism and historic preservation.14. Provide a single contact for information about gaming in Deadwood so that the industry message is clear and consistent.15. Monitor activities of state agencies, i.e., gaming commission, revenue and regulation and labor and inform membership of important issues.16. Act as clearinghouse for member issues, assess various issues and formulate a plan of action to address vital industry concerns.17. Seek every opportunity to return membership value. Please submit proposals to DGA Selection Committee, 767 Main Street, Deadwood, SD 57732 by August 1.
